can't view videos older than 1 year? this site is crap now, it's going to die, the solution to to this problem is not hard to see, delete old videos with the least views/comments, lowest ratings and keep good old videos, this should lower the need for revenue

I've seen this happen on other sites over the years, and it's going to happen with Yuvutu as well. Great free content is replaced by a charging model which will ultimately kill the site. Unless it changes soon, in a year or two I bet that this site will either be a small, niche, charging site like the myriad of others or - more likely - it will be gone, as the cycle will continue with another start up site somewhere.

I get why the charging model is introduced - there are costs to running a place like this. But the whole point that Yuvutu is so popular and successful is because its free. There is little in way of intellectual property owned by Yuvutu....the assets are the amateur videos submitted, and these can easily go somewhere else. Likewise, there is little 'brand loyalty' with punters when it comes to internet sites - when the people submitting the videos go somewhere else, the punters will follow.

On the subject of charging for 1yr+ old videos, there may not be a law being broken but I think its pretty shady ethically, given that the reason people uploaded the vids was that it was a free site where many people would see them. If you have storage problems then as has been mentioned, purge the worst videos, reduce the number of HD videos or just make it your policy to not hold videos over a certain age. But introducing a policy after-the-fact is a bit, well, sly.

Charging for certain things is fine. You want higher quality videos? Pay us... You want live webcams? Pay us.... You want to download direct from the site? Pay us... You want a massive favorite list? Pay us.... All that stuff is good, its value-add. Watching the videos submitted by the public should be free, and if its not then this site loses one of its key reasons for being.

Just checked my favorite list. 80% of them are now unobtainable to me. Tsk.

This whole thing where you cannot view videos older than one year is crazy. I cannot even view the video that I AM IN, because it is on another person's profile. That is ridiculous. This site has been on the decline for awhile now and it just keeps getting worse. On another subject, I have not been able to get into the chat room for two days now. I have messaged that I am having issues and I have yet to receive a response. It does not appear to be my computer because i tried two different computers, one a mac and another pc. I have also tried a diff login. get the same box each time i click on the chat tab. Abox that only says "notice" in it. no reason for the notice. so idk. i guess i will have to find another site to visit since I cant enjoy this one.

I have no reason to come back to this site now. All the videos that I've watched and added to favorites for over years I can no longer view. WTF. Whatever this site has been on a decline anyway and now that over 1 year video restriction is now the final straw. It was fun while it lasted

So, are you saying any new videos are not as good as the old ones ???

The quality of videos here hasn't changed and I am sure you can find plenty to whet your appetite

The whole point is that people have videos that are their favorites and they can no longer view them because they are a over a year old. That has nothing to do with the new videos.

There should be no time limit on how long the videos can be viewed. End of story!

Ok .. Non-subscribers are no longer able to watch videos more than 1 year. I fully understand why It is annoying.

But, I would like to leave a positive comment: .. I think this has been implemented for 3 reasons:

1/ Encourage people to visit Yuvutu - If they regularly go to this site, then they have a free access to +40 000 videos uploaded this year, and they are able to favorite them. (Delete them when your favorite clips become too old, and add some new ones) ..
Keep visiting Yuvutu, I see this message.

2/ Encourage people to upload some new content in order to have a Yuvutu index over 50 000, and be able to watch all videos with their free subscription.

3/ Encourage people to subscribe to Yuvutu.

I think these 3 reasons are good.. This site needs regular new users (and keep them), fresh new uploads and make revenues .. nothing wrong with that.

Again the point is that the users do not want to delete their older faves. I didnt add faves because I wanted to delete them a year from now. I made them my faves because I really like them and wanto go back and watch them.

Agreed. This is BS. I never gave Yuvutu permission to sell my videos. I'm deleting them off the site and keeping them to myself now, thank you very much.

Hi Guys, just my two pennies worth. I have been with this site for about 4 yrs now, and on the whole it is one of the best `free` sitses around. If you do not like what is going on with site, as with all things in life there are millions of other places to go to get your `fix`.
This site is here for the owners to make a profit. With regards to who owns what in here.....lets be grown up...if you choose to put your vids/phots/coments in here there is a vey good chance that some one will move/steal/copy or otherwise to it at some stage. As my hubby says.....its like gettng your arse fucked......if you like it..do it.....AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT.DONT DO IT. After all its not real life. There are thousands of members and non members, mainly very happy. Well done Mr YUVUTU.

You just signed this site's death sentence. None of the videos I have in my favorites are available to view anymore. I was considering subscribing to support the site, but not if I have to do it to view what was uploaded by people for free.

Here at yuvutu we firmly believe in free speech which is why we have a complaints forum. There are many complaints in this subject and I would like to respond to them here:

The strapline at the top of the screen "Watch porn, UPLOAD videos, photos and blogs, make friends for FREE" is not a lie. You can watch porn for free on yuvutu. In fact you can watch every video that ever appeared on yuvutu for free provided you watch each video before it becomes more than a year old.

About 95% of a video's views take place within the first 3 days of its release, thereafter the views get rarer. Videos that are over a year old get hardly any views. It is expensive to store our library of over 250 000 videos. 75% of these are over a year old and hardly anybody watches them. We were tempted to delete these older videos to save costs videos but decided instead to make them available to subscribers only instead (more than half our subscribers are free subscribers because their yuvutu index is over 50 000). Putting in the 1 year limit, although unpopular has increased our subscription revenue by about 20%. This has given us a lifeline as yuvutu is running at about breakeven. Subscription revenue is crucial to us as advertising does not cover all our costs and we make no apology in finding new ways to try to get more revenue. We need yuvutu to cover its running costs. We, the owners of yuvutu make a modest income from yuvutu, and we are not rich people: we all have other jobs to pay our bills.

I will talk to the rest of the admin team about unblocking videos that are over a year old for people who registered those videos as a favourite. Hopefully that will go a little way to appeasing some of the people who have voiced their anger here.
